Season Review and Preview

Written by Monkeys United at 13:22 9/10-2010

Season 13 is history, Season 14 has started. This is the time that most teams come together and discuss what happened last season. Did we manage to archieve our goals, how can we grow to become even better. And the goals that weren't reached, why didn't we reach them and what can we do to prevent this in the future?

The management of Monkeys United usually has their annual meetings earlier in the season, but because of the holidays they couldn't meet earlier then day 6. Lot has been discussed like economics, training schedules, the name of the official supporter association, who should be hired as new trainers, and more stuff like this. But those things wouldn't be interesting for people from outside this club. However, there has also been a review on season 13 and a preview for season 14. The outcome of the discussion is described in this article.

Season 13 was a very succesfull season for the Monkeys. It will be the season which comes to be known as the great breakthrough. Even though we didn't manage to make it to the so-called 'top movers list', we promoted from the top of division 6 to the top of division 2 and managed to get 5 wins and 13 results in this season. Hanneken Engelborgh was bought and has immediately grown to be the new superstar in the squad. He has developed so quickly that several topteams has shown their interest already. Cornelius Enting also trained very hard last season and is now the captain of the timetrial squad. It was a dissappointment that we couldn't participate at the Nederlandse Tour, but furthermore we are very happy with the progression that the team has made.

But season 13 is history, season 14 is the future. In this future, Monkeys United wants to become one of the best teams in OCM. At the end of season 14, we want to be a steady team in the top division. So the goal is to be around the 30th place at the end of the season. Not much higher because we want to participate at the Nederlanse Tour this year. We are hoping to obtain 5 wins this season and a total of 15 results. This is more than we have ever obtained in 1 season, but we believe that it is better to set high goals. Besides, this is the first season that Hanneken Engelborgh it with us from the beginning.

We want to work with a squad with 6 great sprinters and 3 great TT'ers. At this moment we have 6 sprinters and 2 TT'ers so this season, an extra TT'er must be bought. Eighter this new TT'er as Mark Reus must be maxed this season. For the sprinters, we want to add 2 talented sprinters to the team. One of them must be maxed and take the position of Godwin Knauer, who is feeling a little homesick and wants to return to England. Hanneken Engelborgh should start working on his TT-skils so that he could be the captain at the Nederlandse Tour.

There are also some other targets that Monkeys United want to reach, like extending the merchandise shop, but the board is not willing to release al these goals to the press. Anyway, the new season has started and the first result has already been archieved. Hopefully, we can keep up the good work.
